Scott McCartney from WSJ: 5 Most Important Trends in the Airline Industry Today

Date and Time: Tuesday, 1 November 2016 at 7:00PM
Venue: NYU Stern Tisch Hall Room UC-21
Speaker: Scott McCartney, columnist of WSJ’s The Middle Seat.

Aviation Club at NYU is proud to present a talk with Scott McCartney, columnist of “The Middle Seat,” one of the most popular features on The Wall Street Journal. Mr. McCartney has been on the airline and aviation beat for more than 18 years and makes numerous radio and television appearances. He was part of the WSJ’s team that won the Pulitzer Prize for breaking coverage of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

A native of Boston and graduate of Duke University, Mr. McCartney spent 11 years with The Associated Press before joining the WSJ. He is an instrument-rated, multi-engine private pilot, and lives in Dallas. He knows many senior airline executives, and knows many aircraft types and many airports.

Mr. McCartney is quite unique in simultaneously addressing both the needs of frequent flyers, and what these needs look like from an airline industry business perspective. In other words, his column is both B2C (business to consumer) and B2B (business to business).

Mr. McCartney’s column is called The Middle Seat because that is what business travelers making last-minute bookings most dread! His column is often quite amusing as well as informative.
